Joseph E. Aoun, a leader in higher education policy and a renowned scholar in linguistics, is the seventh President of Northeastern University.
President Aoun has strategically aligned the University’s research enterprise with three global imperatives—health, security, and sustainability. Northeastern’s faculty focus on interdisciplinary research, entrepreneurship, and transforming academic research into commercial solutions for the world’s most pressing problems. During President Aoun’s tenure, the University has realized a 189 percent growth in external research funding, along with approximately 1,500 patent applications filed by faculty and students.
Boston Globe culture columnist, Jeneé Osterheldt, created A Beautiful Resistance to celebrate and center Black Joy and Black lives and the lives of other folk of color, too. A multimedia series, it features written stories, Q&A, Instagram posts, playlists, and a docuseries.

Osterheldt teamed up with three Boston filmmakers of color to help bring her vision to life and ensure these stories were told through a lens of love, through a lens of community, in a way that counters the lies we've been told about Blackness.

Chaney Carlson-Bullock, Daymian Mejia, and Katherine Otuechere are brilliant filmmakers and this Black History Month we celebrate the work they have done with A Beautiful Resistance as well as their own productions. How we tell stories matter. Who tells our stories matters. Us being our own authors is a beautiful resistance.
The Beantown Classic, A CTD Production, directed by Chaney Tha Director is a docuseries about the Beantown All Star Youth Football Classic hosted by A&B Sporting Events. Episode 1 follows 11-year-old student athlete Vidal Clark of Roxbury and the minds and mission behind the major community sports event.

SELF-TITLED by Daymian Mejia is a short starring Luke Bar$, an emcee in Brockton rap collective VAN BUREN RECORDS. On the cusp of finishing his debut album, the rapper has an auditory hallucination that impacts the direction of his life and career.

Katherine Otuechere has a project releasing later this year. She directed two episodes of A Beautiful Resistance: "What we mean by Black Girl Magic," and "Kim Janey's Beautiful Resistance: The Seen Unseen".
